In the by there used to be an option in advanced wifi settings that made the 5GHz "preferred" merely Google took it out for some reason.

The disabling of the two.four GHz or having ii carve up SSIDs might be the only manner correct now (non sure for a rooted phone tho)

Yes non certain why did Google remove that option. Any hidden secret code i.e. *#00*# etc that immune united states of america to brand changes to network setting.

Some routers have band steering which will strength devices to 5ghz if supported while keeping 2.4ghz for devices that can't.

I turned off Motorcar Connect on my 2.4ghz, and then it stays on 5ghz all the time.

I turned off Auto Connect on my 2.4ghz, so it stays on 5ghz all the time.

Mine only one ssid for both band. Seem like there is no solution and i had to split the bands into 2 ssid.

I only accept 1 ssid. Similar I said, I turned off Auto Connect for 2.4ghz so it always stays on 5ghz.

thanks, merely for me both the bands are broadcast into one SSID. which means i tin can simply find one wifi connection and the wireless router will change the band connection based on the signal forcefulness when i am moving around the house. information technology will alter the connection to 2.4ghz when i am in some place where the 5ghz connexion is weak. why i wanted to stay with 5ghz when the connection is weak considering it give a much higher download/upload speed compare to the two.4ghz connection which somehow got much weaker internet speed to the extent of unusable.

Buy a new router where you can separate them and so disable or plow off the 5ghz connection

Looks like this is quite an issue for N2Us. I have a 4 year old iphone and it stays connected to 5GHz in the same identify and N2U reverts to 2.four. I have band steering and take been actually well on all other devices. Upshot lies only with N2U.

Purchase a new router where you can dissever them and then disable or plough off the 5ghz connection
Mine can separate them but since information technology is only affecting my phone, I promise the modify can exist on the phone instead. By separating them, I will need to configure all those devices that can only connect to ii.4ghz. east.thousand. ring peephole

I only accept 1 ssid. Like I said, I turned off Car Connect for 2.4ghz so it ever stays on 5ghz.
Errr...you actually DON'T have 1 SSID but 2. The ring is appended on the proper name and they are actually ii dissimilar WiFi networks with different names and then you could plow off auto-connect on the 2.4GHz one

I employ the Wireless Mac Filter on my router to block 2.4Ghz Ring for my phone mac address, so the phone tin only connect to 5Ghz

If you are using a Samsung phone in the advanced settings for wifi, turn off utilise randomised MAC address and apply the phones actual MAC. This fix has been tested on Netgear routers and works, telephone will join the faster 5ghz and notwithstanding be able to switch to 2.4 if you are at a altitude from the router

i am using a router which broadcast both 2.4ghz and 5ghz band using unmarried SSID. how do i force my phone to but let to connect to the 5Ghz wifi network. i cannot turn off the 2.4ghz band as there are other devices in my house that only back up 2.4ghz or do i want to split the bands into 2 SSID.
Thank y'all.
This is what i did .
(It might give you an very piece of cake pick /thought .)
My current setup is a Nokia fibre router that has 2.iv ghz and 5 ghz bands
I bought a reasonable priced wifi mesh 'TP DECO M4 "then
connected information technology to my fibre router ( ethernet cablevision )

The TP wifi mesh comes with an Android app fo configure it (settings )
All i did was swicth off the 2.iv ghz band in app, for my TP decom 4 model .
Then if i wand to use only 5ghz i connect to my TP DecoM4 ( which is connected to my Nokia fibre router)

My othe devices( that only apply 2.4 ghz bands ) i connect dirrectly to my Nokia fibre router, that has ii.4ghz band active ...and besides the 5ghz ,
So fo me its a affair of to switch 2.4 ghz on and off in the Android TPlink app .
Hope this requite you an very straightforward option ?
skillful luck
